About Liesl Silverstone

 

Liesl Silverstone is a British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy Fellow and has a Diploma in Art Therapy, a Diploma in Counselling and Certificate in Transpersonal Psychology.

She is the authour of 'Art Therapy the Person-centred Way'- the first book on this approach.Liesl Silverstone

She has worked for 18 years as School Counsellor in an Inner London Secondary School in Brixton. She has taught on the SW London College Counselling Courses for 10 years and on the Westminster Pastoral Foundation Counselling courses for 4 years. She runs training events and groups and has a counselling practice. She is the founder of the Person-centred Art Therapy Centre (1985), offering certificate and diploma courses, workshops and supervision.

She links images expressed in art-form with the person-centred non-directive approach - which Carl Rogers saw as 'ploughing new ground'. She has worked in this way with children, with educationally disadvantaged adults, in groups, with individuals and for herself, and has gained extensive proof of its effectiveness and vast scope of application.
